Oh How I Long For Red Lights…

Red Light is God’s way of telling us to Stop.

Oh How I Long For Red Lights. Its funny as I embark on a new project, I am working at an opportunity that as I leave home takes me straight to the highway…non-stop. This goes on for approximately 60 miles. I found myself saying how I long for Red Lights. This has hit home as I am writing about RedLight When God says No.

In my previous book titled GreenLight: When God Says Go, I used to pray for non-stop green lights as I made it all the way East. When red lights caught me I was mad. Impatiently I’d declare how much I needed to go.

But now I long for a time to stop. To stop to change the audio-book to another. To stop to acknowledge something quickly. To stop to safely sip that delicious cup of tea to soothe the early morning’s drive. I just long to stop to breathe.

The Lord’s Patience

I don’t know how the Lord deals with us. We are never satisfied. He gives us Green Lights and we complain because we want to stop. He gives us Red lights and we want to go, go, go. He tells us to slow down to his Safe Place and we say we have no time to stop. Oh how does he patiently waits on us? Oh why does he never leave us.

Thank you Lord for your never-ending patience.

It’s Hard To Live By Faith…

We conquer by faith. This is a common verse yet as I read it today it jumped out at me. Faith is all we need. When we pray, the Lord doesn’t always answer giving us the details of his quest. He may give us the Goal as when you feel led to do something but he doesn’t include in that calling a step by step guide.

The Righteous will live by Faith

Romans 1:17

The righteous will live by faith means we have to trust him when we don’t understand. Trust him when the way seems foggy. Trust him when our career goes asunder. Trust him when a loved one gets hurt, or even passes. An old hymn says we will understand it in the by and by. Understanding comes with:

  1. Praying for Guidance
  2. Reading the Word
  3. Quiet Reflection
  4. Listening for Directions
  5. Looking back over your life and the evolution of its path
  6. Connecting the dots to see where it’s leading
  7. Sealing the time with Prayer

Trust God. Trust his leadership and guidance. Because his words says the righteous will live by faith not worry

Write What You See…

When God Says Go, obey Even when it doesn’t make sense. Often as he did with Abraham, he doesn’t tell us how, when and where. He just provides the GreenLight and the nudge. If we are in tune, we will recognize his leading.

Years ago I felt his quiet guidance to write what I see (Habakkuk). I obeyed and have been writing His words of encouragement to Quiet the hearts of those discouraged, sick, needing reassurance and just prayers for guidance.

Furthermore he has led aspiring authors who need help to me for my assistance to help them to do the same. Indeed I am humbled and will hold firmly onto him.

Today, I encourage you to follow his lead even when you’re afraid to step out as I was. But one thing I’ve always encouraged is for you to do it afraid. Don’t trust your fear… it will only hold you back.

Indeed he is My Safe Place.

All The Time In The World…

This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus

Overheard discussion with a professional medical personnel. The aged couple commented that they are getting up in age to which the young professional medical practitioner responded “that’s okay, we’ll be around for awhile”.

How do you know this to be true? Life’s not promised. Let’s be careful of our assumptions. Remember the guy who decided to store up and build barns because he planned to be around for a long time? He passed away that very night.

So think before you speak. No one knows the future.

Run like Joseph…

Run like Joseph! That was the retort from my young adult daughter during a conversation with a youth group. They were discussing the temptations that exist in our society. Her retort was based on Joseph’s actions when confronted by Bathsheba’s seduction.

Pray Like David

Personally when life starts with its craziness, discouragement, sadness, tragedies and more, my retort is to “Pray like David”. In making decisions I found that David consistently consulted with the Lord before he acted. He never did anything without first asking the Lord. He beseeched the Lord for his guidance on whether he should pursue his enemy, make certain moves, fight or flight.

David then listened for the Lord’s leading and as he obeyed, he consistently enjoyed the fruits of success. Today I encourage you that whatever situation you’re in, be it decision-making, entrepreneurship venture, relationship, financial or mental hardship, take it to the Lord in prayer. Then wait patiently as you listen for his answer. As you obey his guidance and direction, be sure that you will enjoy success.

Be encouraged, the Lord may be long but he’s never late. So pray like David did.

Sunday Is Coming…

Wait for it. Wait for it.

It was Friday. Sad day….or so we thought. Our performance moved the congregants as we re-enacted the soldiers mocking nuances. Such humiliation none should ever experience.

Sunday

But then came Sunday. The discovery of an empty tomb. It was that sure Safe Place for many. Delights, glee, joy and praise rang out as the congregants worshipped aloud.

Yes Friday was sad. But together we rejoice as Sunday the promise shone brightly.

My Safe Place is the new release that provides short stories, exhortations and prayers for difficult journeys. Snatch your copy and experience his Grace.

Stay blessed

Use What Is Left…

Arise, use what is left. So what if your joy isn’t what it used to be? Use what is left. So what if your desire is dampened? Take hold of what is left. So what if your power is almost gone? Seize what is left and be what God said you could be. Don’t let circumstances abort your dream. Release your anointing. ~T.D. Jakes

Those words spoke to me. T. D. Jakes shared instances of biblical characters to shed the light.

  • Samson after he lost his sight gave what he had left
  • David with Goliath and his stones gave what he had left
  • Paul after he was shipwrecked used what he had left to get to the shore …a simple board

So today if you’re going through stuff, take heart. Be courageous and use what you have left to accomplish your victory. Strengthen what remains.

On Becoming You…

Sometimes it looks like you’re going nowhere or that you’re headed in the wrong direction. I’m learning that the decision itself is rarely the point. The point is becoming more fully ourselves in the presence of God, connecting with Him and with each other, and living our lives as though we believe He is good and beautiful. The point is being honest about where you are and what you need and then looking around in your own community for people to walk with you and with whom you can walk. I spent years wishing people would support me only to later realize I was waiting around for something to come to me when I was perfectly capable of going out and getting it. I’m convinced God is less interested in where we end up then He is in who we are becoming. Whether we’re employed or unemployed, encouraged or discouraged, filled with vision or fumbling in the fog. More than anything, our Father just wants to be with us. The most common way He shows His “withness” to us is in the actual, physical presence of other people.

Emily P. Freeman,

Where Will It Lead?

Life is a matter of choices, and every choice you make, makes you. ~John Maxwell

The choices we make we should first consider where they will lead. Is it Marriage, love, children, new job, college, new contract, new house? Always contemplate the future. Where will your choice lead you?

It’s Simple

Pray. Consider carefully. Have faith and then make your decision based on the spirit’s leading.
